Western Queens Recovery Services (WQRS) is an Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) certified program, that provides outpatient treatment services to assist individuals who suffer from chemical abuse or dependence. WQRS is community-based, serving adults, adolescents and children. The program provides a comprehensive, family oriented approach to the treatment of chemical abuse and dependence with treatment planning responsive to each individual’s needs. Assessments are conducted by our highly trained, and culturally competent, professional staff to determine the most effective forms of treatment. The program also provides services to significant others who are effected psychologically, behaviorally and emotionally due to another individual’s chemical abuse or dependence.
The program offers the following services:
- Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT)
- Admission Assessment
- Individual and Group Counseling for individuals and significant others
- Psychiatric Evaluations
- Medication Management – Routine and Complex
- Addiction Medication Induction
- Complex Care Coordination
- Psycho-Educational Presentations
- Treatment levels for Early Sobriety, Relapse Prevention and Advanced Sobriety
- Specialized track for Significant Others, which included Co-Dependency groups
- Specialized Teen Track
- Court-mandated individuals welcomed
- Individuals with substance use disorders from cash assistance to work referrals (HRA)
- Vocational counseling
- Self-help meetings in the building
- Smoking Cessation Treatment
- Evaluations and treatment for 1st and 2nd DWI offenders. This program is approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, the New York Police Department and New York State Drinking and Driving Programs.

Recovery Services can be reached by taking the #7 train to 61st Street – Woodside and walking over to the entrance on Woodside Avenue from Roosevelt Avenue. Available Queens buses include the Q18 bus, which lets you off on Woodside Avenue or the Q53 bus, which lets off on Roosevelt Avenue.
